HOW WE WORK

How We Work -Guide to Internal Operations-

Medical Volunteer Network
Medical Volunteer Network (MVN) is managed by a team of clinical trial specialists and bilingual volunteer coordinators under the umbrella of the P-one Clinic Recruiting Division.
Duties
Non-Japanese recruiting, facilitating communication between Japanese staff and English-speaking volunteers/clients, design of English promotional materials, translation of clinical trial documents, social media management.
Message To Volunteers
We’re here to assist the non-Japanese volunteers in any way we can, so please don’t hesitate to direct your questions and concerns to us.
Recruiting Division
Duties
Providing trial information to volunteers, receiving trial applications, arranging health check appointments, responding to general emails, answering calls to the toll-free number, and all matters related to volunteer coordination.
Message to Volunteers
We always do our best to find trials that match our volunteers as quickly as possible and sincerely do our best to meet your needs. Thank you!
Administrative Office
Duties
Payments, human resources, contracts, and other administrative matters. While our administrators rarely meet volunteers face-to-face, they are in charge of paying the trial participation compensation.
Message to Volunteers
We work hard to make our clinic a place that subjects will want to visit again and again.
Laboratory Section
Duties
Carrying out urine, blood, ECG and other tests to evaluate the effect of taking the drugs.
Message to Volunteers
You won’t have much chance to meet us other than at blood and urine test times, and we recognize that it might be a bit embarrassing when a woman accepts your urine. So if it helps put you at ease, please chat with us through the window!
Nursing Section
Duties
The nursing section is involved in just about everything, from performing tests and providing useful information, to taking care of daily needs during stays at the clinic.
Message to Volunteers
Since it is our duty to meet with volunteers frequently, we make sure to be kind and polite when assisting you.
Nutrition Section
Duties
Putting together the menu and cooking the food that subjects eat.
Message To Volunteers
We put our heart and soul into the cooking so that you can eat warm, delicious food. Although the meal times are short, we want you to feel at ease. If you need anything at all, whatever it might be, please call out to the kitchen and let us know.
Pharmaceutical Section
Duties
Providing directions and assistance for taking drugs, and handling all pharmaceuticals, including the trial drugs.
Message to Volunteers
Many volunteers often say this: “Aside from the days we take drugs, we never see hide nor hair of the pharmacists, so I wonder what the heck they’re up to?” When we’re not observing, assisting, and guiding drug administration to ensure that everyone takes the trial drugs safely and without fail, we are working behind the scenes to manage our pharmaceutical supplies in compliance with strict regulations, responding to your concerns about concurrent therapies, and fulfilling many other duties. We may not show up very often but if you come talk to us, contrary to appearances, we think you’ll be surprised to find that we are very approachable.
Trial Management Division (4 members)
Duties
This division is made up of a group of Clinical Research Coordinators (CRCs) who play a central role in conducting clinical trials. CRCs interact with volunteers more than anyone else: from the time you are assessed for screening to the end of the trial, CRCs are with you all the way.
Message to Volunteers
No matter how trifling it may seem, never hesitate to ask us anything.
